Discovering the Essence of Coastal Maine in the Heart of Boston
Located at 75 Exeter St, Boston, MA 02116, Luke's Lobster Back Bay serves as a dedicated outpost for those seeking the authentic flavors of the North Atlantic. Situated in one of Boston's most historic and vibrant neighborhoods, this establishment bridges the gap between the rugged coastline of Maine and the bustling urban environment of Back Bay. The philosophy here is rooted in simplicity, transparency, and a deep respect for the maritime traditions that define New England seafood culture. By focusing on the quality of the catch and the integrity of the supply chain, the restaurant offers a dining experience that feels both grounded and refreshing.
When you step into the space, you are greeted by an atmosphere that prioritizes comfort and community. Key Highlights of the Dining Experience
Direct Sourcing and Sustainability: A core pillar of the establishment is its commitment to knowing exactly where the seafood comes from. By maintaining direct relationships with fishermen and processing facilities, the restaurant ensures that every item served meets high standards for environmental responsibility and freshness. This transparency allows diners to enjoy their meals with the confidence that the seafood has been harvested with care for the marine ecosystem.
Focus on Ingredient Integrity: The menu is built around the belief that high-quality seafood does not require complex masking agents. By utilizing simple preparation methods, the natural sweetness and texture of the primary ingredients are allowed to shine. This approach celebrates the raw quality of the catch, ensuring that the flavors are clean, distinct, and representative of the pristine waters from which they were sourced.
A Welcoming Neighborhood Atmosphere: Located in the heart of Back Bay, the restaurant serves as a casual gathering point that fits seamlessly into the local landscape. The design and service style are intentionally unpretentious, creating a space where the focus remains on the food and the company. It is an ideal setting for those who appreciate a relaxed dining environment that does not compromise on the quality of the culinary experience.
Commitment to Community and Craft: Beyond the plate, there is a strong emphasis on the human element of the seafood industry. By supporting the livelihoods of independent fishermen and coastal communities, the restaurant fosters a connection between the people who catch the food and the people who enjoy it. This dedication to the craft of fishing and the art of hospitality creates a meaningful narrative that accompanies every visit.

The location on Exeter Street makes it a convenient stop for those navigating the city, offering a brief, flavorful escape that feels like a trip to the seaside. Whether you are a long-time resident of Boston or just passing through, the dedication to quality and the welcoming nature of the space make it a notable destination for a satisfying meal. Nice spot for a good lobster roll. Taste was good, but beware prices were very high (as lobster typically is). ~$30 for a small hotdog style bun and 4oz of lobster.

First time visiting all the way from California. I really wanted a delicious yummy cup of bisque soup, which was what I got when I came here. It wasn’t filled with chunks of lobster like I wanted, but it was still yummy all the same … More

We are visiting Boston for the first time and trying lobster rolls and clam chowder were a must! We stumbled on Luke’s and we were so glad we did. The location is convenient and quaint. I tried the Lobster Flight which is a sampler plate and added a side cup of clam chowder. The half sandwiches were packed with lobster. It was delicious. Even though the restaurant was full, the noise levels were low making conversing comfortable. The bathrooms were clean. Overall a great experience.

Tried a lobster roll for the first time and had a great experience! The staff were super friendly and helpful — they even offered a kid’s portion so I could try it out. The lobster was perfectly cooked, the sauce was flavorful, and the bun was soft and fresh. Everything tasted amazing. No regrets at all — definitely recommend it! More

I got the Seafood Flight made Gluten-Free and it was AMAZING! The soft buttery rolls were delicious and made it feel like a normal meal for once. They have a separate gluten-free prep area and their menu is labeled. A must stop for me every time I’m in Boston! More

Tried the lobster roll and crab roll today — total luxury vibes. Buttery, fresh, and way too good to be an everyday thing (even though I wish it was). Definitely one of those meals that makes you pause and just appreciate life for a minute.

as an indonesian trying this famous lobster roll for the first time, i must say its pretty good.
my friend and i, we both tried the clam chowder + lobster roll (+- $36)
clam chowder was good. definitely can taste the clam but, for both of us it was missing just a kick of salt and pepper. maybe because we're used to eating more flavorful foods✌🏻
losbter roll was amazing. lobster was fresh, bread was just the perfect amount of butter. sad to say, both of us felt like it just need a bit of something. tried adding sriracha sauce to it, helped a bit, but still🫣🫠
for us, trying this for the first time was worth it. but probably not gonna buy it again, as its also considered quite expensive compared to other foods
ps : $36 includes drinks! must try their ginger beer + lemonade. super good!

Luke's Lobster features lobster rolls overflowing with fresh chunks of lobster meat in butter and lemon, served on a toasted, buttery split-top bun. The clam chowder is creamy and comforting. Portions were small and kind of pricey.
Service is friendly and efficient and the decor is very nautical. It's a great place for a quick lunch or a light dinner.

Good spot for a quick bite of lobster rolls, one of the workers (Demond) was super helpful at picking what to grab. I ended up grabbing a warm lobster roll, price was a little pricey but it’s lobster so what can i say. Also the blueberry soda is the BEST soda ever.

I tried the sampler with lobster, crab, and shrimp, which came with a free drink and chips. The seafood was flavorful, and the buttered bread was a nice touch. They really did a great job bringing out the best in the seafood. The only downside was that it was served a bit too cold, which took away from the overall experience. More

Ordered a couple of rolls, side chips, drinks, and brownies to go. The food was good, but kind of pricey for the amount you get. Also, the brownies were $4.50 for a small mass produced one. At that price point, I was expecting at least something made by the kitchen. It would have been nice if the online ordering menu made this clear. The brownies were gluten free, so maybe that explains the price, but again, this wasn't clear in the ordering menu.
